I love the idea of a scrapbook. I had one when I was a teenager, and that was long before they became the creative endeavor that they are today. Back then you just pasted whatever you wanted to save in the book, and that was that. Today, the scrapbooks you see are very elaborate, and you may find it hard to come up with new scrapbooking ideas. I don’t know why I have a hard time with it. Perhaps it is my lack of time or perhaps it is because I just don’t have a lot of stuff to work with. I see a lot of great layouts done by friends, but I just can’t seem to get on the ball myself.
One of the best ways to get good scrapbooking ideas is by looking through what your friends have done. You shouldn’t copy the page exactly, but it may give you a general idea of how to come up with your own unique page. Sometimes it is a matter of choosing a color and then just grabbing whatever you have with that color in it and seeing what you can come up with. Scrapbooking ideas often come from doing just that, and if you can learn to do it, you won’t have any trouble coming up with new ideas for your books.
You can also get scrapbooking ideas by taking a class. Many craft stores have classes designed just for scrapbooks, and also for rubber-stamping, which can be included in your book or books. They may offer you tips on how to choose a good theme for your scrapbooking ideas, and how to go about buying the right materials so that you have a great variety from which to choose. If you are feeling hopeless, like I do much of the time, this might be the best way to go.
If you want to have a peek at what others are doing, you can find examples of what others are doing online. This is where I have found quite a few good scrapbooking ideas, though I have yet to try any of them. You can find scrapbooking ideas that are easy, and you can find those that might take you a while to replicate. It all depends on what kind of time you have. I know I don’t have enough time to do my book any justice, and by the time I do find some time, I am overwhelmed by what I have to do. One of these days I’ll get caught up. It might not be until my daughter is in college, but that might just be how it has to be.
