There comes a time in everyone's life when they move out of mom and dad's house to live on their own. Maybe you've experienced this already, or maybe it's yet to come. Well, let me give you the heads up; it's generally not on your "OWN" per se. Let me elaborate. Maybe you're headed off to college or you just got a cool job in the city. So, how much do you expect rent to cost? Let me tell you, it can be heart-wrenching. Seeing that monthly bill can be a serious bummer. In fact, it's what typically takes the brunt of our paychecks. You know what this means! You most likely won't be living alone. Ready for some roommate searches? This is where things can get really interesting.

People are weird! There's no disputing this. I'm talking about everyone, because every human being is weird in his/her own way. Even the very few that you don't think are weird at all, are weird because their not weird. Huh, how about that psychology? I must say, I'm pretty advanced. Anyway, at some point in your life you very well may end up living with one of these weird strangers. Remember the standard roommate searches? You have to weed through the masses in order to find that one roommate who's not so weird. No doubt, this can be a challenge. The funny part is that so many people seem so normal right off the bat, but later you find out that they're far from it. I call this a facade. They act casual and cool in the beginning, but it's only to gain your trust. Later, once you're sharing a place, they're totally weird. Okay, so I've elaborated on the "weird" aspect of human nature, but now what about those roommate searches? You can perform these online now days. It's not like on the flick "Single White Female." Oh, did I bring that up? That's probably not such a great example. You remember what happened with that roommate. She was a bit off her rocker.

If you find yourself doing roommate searches for college or afterwards, I suggest a few precautions. Make sure the roommate does not smoke. Unless you do as well, you won't be able to stand this. Make certain the roommate has a reliable job. If he/she can't pay their half of the rent, they're useless. Oh, and meet them in person prior to sharing that lease. Some of those new-age roommate searches can be a bit deceptive on the web.
