It’s almost comical to see the women in the baby department of a store. If you want women as they look through diaper bags, you will see one of two reactions. They either love what they see or they hate everything. There never seem to be any middle ground, at least not when I have been present. There are some moms that just love to find Winnie the Pooh on a bag, while others are looking around, almost spinning in a circle with a look of horror on their face. There is only one thing they seem to say, “Is this all there is?”
I have to say I am in the second group. While I don’t mind my little girl in something cute and girly, I don’t like that look in diaper bags. I had one that was a traditional bag, but I soon replaced it with something that was never meant for diapers, but it worked out well for me. I don’t like the mommy look, even though I love being a mom, and I decided against most of the diaper bags I found when I went shopping in the baby section.
I ended up getting all of my diaper bags in the purse and bag section. The ones I got were never meant to be a diaper bag but they had the makings of great carry all type bags. They had compartments and zippers, though they never had a bottle holder. That was easy enough to overcome buy buying a separate one and just putting it in the bag. I loved the look of the bags that looked nothing like the traditional diaper bags that you see on the shelves.
If you don’t want to buy the pink and blue frilly diaper bags that you see in the store, you can find something that looks a little more like what you might want to carry if you look. Just look around where you buy your purses and you will most likely find something that you love. If you don’t, you should look online for diaper bags. There are many companies who feel as I do, and you will find bags that no one would have thought was made to carry diapers and clothes a mere ten years ago. In fact, you can find ones that look so good you will want to use them for something else once your child has outgrown diapers, as long as the interior has survived. |
